The variety and uniqueness of Old World Christmas ornaments makes our glittering, blown-glass ornaments the easy choice not only for a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, but all year our ornaments add beautiful touches in unique ways. With over 1500 ornaments, there is a special one for everyone. Personalization, either a DIY version or hiring a professional, adds the finishing touch to a thoughtful gift that commemorates a significant moment. The first step in personalization is deciding whether you are up for the task of doing it yourself or not. Hand lettering is a beautiful way to personalize your ornament. You don’t have to be a professional calligrapher to make it memorable, but a steady hand and a plan for spacing will help with the final product. Start with the right pen. One that writes smoothly on our blown-glass ornaments and lasts for a lifetime is important. An oil-based sharpie works well and gold and silver add to the festive look. Two other metallic options with a fine, 1mm tip would be the Molotow Liquid Chrome marker or a set of three Skura Pentouch set with gold, silver and copper. If a certain color is what you fancy then a 2mm Liquidtex Paint Marker (shown here only in red) has a wide range of colors and thicknesses. The paint pens give a more solid line and aren’t as iridescent as the metallic pens. A white paint pen is another great option if you are writing on a dark ornament, and need the lettering to pop. If you’re lettering an ornament yourself a piece of easy-to-remove Washi tape will keep your line straight, and will not peel off the color of the ornament. Another option if you don’t trust your own hand or penmanship are vinyl stickers. Etsy is a great resource for ordering custom vinyl stickers. If you need a name and/or date in a specific color and font there are many Etsy sellers that can produce exactly what you’re looking for and you can easily customize your ornament. If you own or know someone with a Circuit machine, it can also cut personalized vinyl stickers for your ornaments. If you need to leave the personalization to a professional, and if you can’t find a local option, Fiverr is a website with freelance workers. Calligraphers and hand letterers can be found and hired there, just make sure you plan ahead with enough time for communication and exchange of ornaments. Christmas isn’t the only holiday where personalized ornaments are special. Though giving a new ornament each year with the name and year inscribed on the back or bottom is a popular tradition, there are many events that deserve personalized ornaments and creative ways to present them. A few personalized ornaments make a great wedding gift or one customized ornament makes a wedding gift stand out as gift topper. The Wedding Heart ornament is begging to be personalized on the back. The Wedding Dancers ornament also has a blank spot on back to commemorate the wedding date. The Just Married Limo has a large flat spot on the undercarriage for names and a date. The birth of a baby is another celebration that needs to be commemorated with a personalized ornament. A yearly ornament tradition starts here! The Baby Bottle ornament has multiple sides to inscribe a name and date. The blue or pink baby bib ornament has a large flat spot on back to write. We have a whole collection of baby ornaments! Graduation is another time to celebrate, remember and look ahead. A traditional graduation ornament is appropriate (and customizable!), but our extensive collegiate collection gives an exciting vision for the future and a chance to build some preemptive team spirit. Life is too short to be lived without commemorating it’s biggest moments. We’re proud that our ornaments can be easily and beautifully personalized to capture the best moments of our lives.
